Founded in 1976, the Centre for Studies and Research on International Development (CERDI) — a joint research unit of CNRS, Université Clermont Auvergne and IRD — marks this year half a century dedicated to research on development economics and international economic policies.
To celebrate this exceptional anniversary, three events will take place on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at three emblematic venues in Clermont-Ferrand:
🎓 Professional Forum — Pôle Tertiaire (morning)
In collaboration with the School of Economics at UCA, CERDI will organize its annual professional forum with the participation of alumni from around the world. This forum will be an opportunity for exchanges on major global economic issues and the role of CERDI-trained researchers in African and international public policies.
🏛️ Institutional Ceremony — Opéra Théâtre (afternoon)
In the afternoon, an official ceremony will trace and celebrate CERDI's fifty years of scientific excellence, in the presence of institutional representatives from CNRS, UCA and IRD, as well as former doctoral students and researchers from around the world.
🎶 Party — La Petite Coopé (evening)
In the evening, a music-filled celebration full of surprises will close this historic day, under the artistic direction of Stéphane Calipel. A moment of conviviality and celebration shared by the entire CERDI community.
